Guiseppe Archimboldo
The Fire 1566
Archimboldo was born in Milan in 1527. He first began working on stained glass window designs in 1549, and then worked on the frescoes in 1556. Archimboldo then became the court portraitist in 1562 starting with, Ferdinand I, Maximilian II, and Rudolf II, in which he also became the court decorator and costume designer.
In his beginning years, Archimboldo studied and worked with Giuseppe Meda (1556), and Leonardo da Vinci. He is a type of portrait painter, who at first began creating traditional paintings, but then started using different objects like, fruits, vegetables, earth elements, etc. to start creating many different types of pictures.
My opinion on Archimboldo's work, well it is very crazy. He uses things like everyday objects that we may use, like different foods, and creates portraits. Honestly, his work looks really creepy, I don't know how many people could really like this stuff. I do like how he uses his imagination with the food, or whatever he's using, to create the portrait. I don't just don't like how he decided to all of a sudden changed from traditional to weird. I'm not sure who would appreciate the work, because it may almost seem like he could be mocking the person that he supposed to give the portrait to, but I think Archimboldo was just trying to say that he could be different from any different artist.
